To become accredited as a Suzuki Teacher in South Australia, applicants must meet minimum requirements in the following areas.
Instrumental Performance
Applicants must demonstrate their instrumental performance skills by audition. A minimum standard of AMEB Grade Eight or equivalent is required.
The required pieces for each instrument are:
Violin: Concerto in A minor (complete), J.S.Bach
Viola: Old French Dances (4 dances), Marais
Piano: Italian Concerto (complete) J.S.Bach
Flute: Suite in B minor (complete), J.S.Bach
Cello: Gavotte, Popper OR Allegro Appassionata, Saint-Saens
Harp: Theme and variations, J. Haydn
Entry Level (Trainee teacher)
With an Entry Level qualification a teacher is qualified to teach and graduate students through the certificate III repertoire with assistance from their supervisor.
As an entry level teacher, an individual must:
• Meet minimum entry requirements
• Take private instrumental lessons on a regular basis with an approved teacher
• Be a financial member of the Suzuki Association
• Attend regular training sessions
Certificate III in Suzuki Teaching
With a Certificate III qualification a teacher is qualified to teach and graduate students through the Certificate III repertoire
As a Certificate III level teacher, an individual must:
• Meet Entry Level or Trainee Teacher requirements
• Completed all Certificate III training modules and assessments (210 hours of study)
• Attended regular training sessions
• Maintain membership in the Suzuki Association
Certificate IV in Suzuki teaching
Teachers with a Certificate IV are qualified to teach and graduate students through the Certificate IV repertiore
To gain the certificate III qualification, an individual must:
• Complete all Certificate III requirements
• Completed all Certificate IV training modules and assessments (430 hours of study)
• Attended regular training sessions
• Maintained membership in the Suzuki Association
Diploma of Suzuki teaching
Teachers with a Diploma are qualified to teach and graduate students of all levels.
To gain the certificate III qualification, an individual must:
• Complete all certificate III, Certificate IV and Diploma training modules (810 hours)
• Attended regular training sessions
• Maintain membership in the Suzuki Association.

It is a requirement that each accredited teacher in South Australia must complete 20 hours of training each year to maintain their existing status in the Association.
These hours can be completed through:
Teacher training workshops in South Australia other States or Overseas
Students Workshops
Lectures given throughout the year
Attendance at a National Suzuki Event
Individual lessons with a Teacher Trainer
Observations of lessons given by a Teacher Trainer
